WooCommerce and Post-Launch Testing

As part of improving our QA and testing of sites, we are increasing the level of testing we do on WooCommerce stores, including live testing after a site has launched.

Ramp virtual card for testing full store experience

In order to test the full process of WooCommerce purchases, we have a Ramp fund available for purchases. This allows you to purchase items and have them ship if needed, purchase subscriptions and have them renew, and generally act as a real customer to test the full checkout experience.

You can read about the details for using that virtual card here: ███████████████

Areas to consider and test

Below is a list of items to inspire you as you test WooCommerce stores. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list but rather to highlight important aspects of a Woo store and provide a starting point for developing a site-specific testing plan. Depending on the site and store setup, some of the items may be able to be tested before the site launches, and some may need to wait until after the site launch.

  • Confirm that you’re able to check out using the partner’s desired options. Including express checkouts or third-party payment gateways.
  • Consider all plugins that impact checkout and test any potential interactions between them.
  • Confirm that WooCommerce emails are delivered according to the partner’s desired configuration.
  • Confirm that WooCommerce emails use wording that makes sense in light of what is being purchased (e.g., if WooCommerce is being used for donations, emails shouldn’t refer to purchases).
  • Confirm fulfillment completes as desired (depending on the product, think about: digital access, fulfillment center getting accurate data, shipping updates sent to the customer, etc.).
  • Confirm all actions through the user account pages work as expected.
  • If subscriptions/recurring payments are used, confirm that renewals are processed correctly.
  • If reviews are used, confirm that the review-posting process follows the partner’s desired configuration.

Please add to this if you find areas that are not covered by this list!
