The Special Projects Team uses a plugin called Jetpack to maintain your site and power certain features like advanced site search and social sharing. Jetpack provides automated backups, security scans, and alerts us when there may be trouble with your site. It also includes various tools to aid in content consumption, distribution, and syndication through the following:
- Programmatic access to content via the WordPress.com REST API and Jetpack Search
- Subscriptions via the WordPress.com Reader
- Syndication via the WordPress.com Firehose
For sites with restricted access (e.g. paywalls, subscriber-only content, gated content), you may want to change the behavior of these tools depending on your specific use cases. Please contact the Special Projects Team if you may need to restrict content distribution and we can work with you to analyze what adjustments would best suit your needs.
