The Automattic Special Projects team offers a variety of WordPress-related consulting, development, troubleshooting and management services to our partners. We do this as a measure of support for your work in the world, and to showcase the power and flexibility of WordPress.
Getting Started
The specific value we can bring to you and a given project is something we’ll work closely on determining as we start collaborating together. In addition to our core team we have a network of experts that we can bring in to tackle a wide variety of WordPress needs. There are some kinds of work that will fall outside of the scope of what we can offer, and in those cases we can connect you with other resources and partners that could help.
As a part of diving in together we’ll likely ask for access to the login credentials for your existing site(s) – we recommend QuickForget.com for this, please don’t send us sensitive data by email – and any other details you can provide about how you’ve operated so far, what you’re looking to do, and how we can be most helpful. We also have a set of planning questions that we can work from, either via written correspondence, calls, or whatever works for you.
Maintaining Momentum
We ask that our partners value the time we’ll be spending together by committing to completing the project in a timely manner. (Once we complete our initial discovery phase, we’ll provide you with an estimated timeline for how long we think the project will take to complete.)
Once we get started, your continued involvement will be essential! In order to keep the project moving, we’ll need to hear back from you when we request feedback or help with tasks that only you can complete. (If you find your schedule or priorities have shifted, just let us know so we can pause work and start back up again later.)
Ongoing Support
Depending on the arrangements we’ve made together, our team may be providing ongoing support for your site. A few things to keep in mind as a part of that:
- Reach out to us at any time. In general, our team is available M-F during daylight hours in the U.S. Feel free to reach out to us at our team email address at any time and we’ll respond as soon as we can.
- If your site is experiencing an outage, we’ll respond ASAP. If our monitoring detects a problem that prevents basic usage of the site, or if you let us know about one, we’ll drop what we’re doing to fix it as quickly as possible and keep you informed along the way. Please use our team email address and indicate the urgency of the issue in the subject line.
- For everything else, we’ll research and get back to you with recommendations. Our team will take a look at any other questions or requests you send and get back to you soon. In some cases we can answer right away, but in other cases it may take us a few days or even weeks to fully research and act on an issue. If you’re making a request for new functionality or features, we may schedule that work into our team’s plans for the weeks and months ahead.
