Bedfordshire Birds Club

The Bedfordshire Bird Club’s redesigned website showcases an interactive and engaging birding sites map, coupled with a fresh identity—blending tradition with modern design to engage both seasoned and new birdwatchers.

The Bedfordshire Bird Club recognized the need for a modern, user-friendly website to better serve its community of birdwatchers. Their old site was cluttered and outdated, making it difficult for members to navigate content and discover key birding locations, especially on mobile. The redesign focused on refining site structure, enhancing accessibility, and creating a visually engaging experience that balances tradition with modern appeal.

A key feature of the new site is the Birding Sites section, which provides detailed location information, including access, parking, and viewpoints. The interactive map allows users to explore birdwatching spots with ease. Each location includes summaries of typical bird species categorized by season, helpful GPS coordinates, and essential visitor details.

To establish a cohesive brand identity, the team introduced a new logo inspired by linocut prints, alongside a nature-inspired color palette and bespoke illustrations. The site’s design complements members’ stunning photography while maintaining a clean, structured layout that ensures seamless functionality across devices.

The homepage hero section dynamically changes with the seasons, using a scheduled display system to align imagery with the equinoxes and solstices. The result is a fresh, intuitive, and visually rich website that not only enhances the experience for existing members but also attracts a new generation of birdwatchers to the Bedfordshire Bird Club.
