Animal Data Project

The Animal Data Project highlights the environmental and societal impacts of animal farming. The site, enriched with over 600 resources, promotes critical analysis of human-animal interactions.

Moby (singer, songwriter, and animal activist) wanted to raise public awareness of how the raising of animals for food impacts every aspect of our environment and society, from climate change to human health. The Animal Data Project is the fruit of that desire and years of work by his team and ours. The site serves as a resource hub that explores the impact of human activities on animals in various contexts including wildlife, agriculture, and research.

It provides data-driven insights and encourages critical analysis to understand the effects of human-animal interactions. Our team developed an importer tool that seamlessly transfers data from Google Sheets to the site, enabling the Animal Data Project team to easily manage, classify, and update the site’s extensive resources. We also set up multiple custom post types and taxonomies to systematically organize over 600 resources, and utilized Jetpack Search to enhance navigation through these resources. This project serves as a robust example of how WordPress can be used to effectively manage and encourage user engagement on a data-rich site.
